A five-year-old survivor of the horrific tornado that ripped through Moore, Okla., had only begun to rebuild his life when it was ended by a family pet.
The boy, who has not been named, was staying with friends in Jessieville, Ark., when a Bull Mastiff dog mauled and killed the child.
The dog attacked after the boy threw a temper tantrum and the dog’s owner tried to console the child. Investigators believe that the animal felt threatened or believed the owner was in danger, which led the dog to attack. The 150-lb dog punctured the boys head and neck, causing severe lacerations.
The dog was later put down.
