On February 17, 2011, the plaintiff was a passenger on the back of a motorcycle that lost control and crashed. As a result of the crash the plaintiff suffered serious injuries. The defendant in the case had an umbrella policy and when the initial demand was made upon the defendant’s insurance company, the defendant’s insurance company alleged that the umbrella policy did not cover automobile injuries. Counsel for the plaintiff Powell, Ryan Hodge, demanded a complete copy of the policy, did a thorough review and wrote a response to the insurance company as to why they had misinterpreted their policy. Upon re-evaluation, the insurance company agreed that they had misinterpreted their policy and agreed that there was full additional coverage under the umbrella policy and paid the full policy limit on behalf of Mrs. Powell.
